CAD/CAM

The dental laboratory of the Šlaj-Anić polyclinic is equipped with the most modern CAD / CAM computer system for the production of all types of dental prostheses.

CAD / CAM (Computer-aided design / Computer-aided manufacturing) is a computer technology for the design and production of very precise dental prostheses (crowns, veneers, cores, dental abutments, etc.).

This technology significantly speeds up and facilitates the production of prosthetic works. The CAD / CAM system at the Šlaj-Anić polyclinic belongs to the latest generation of specialized computer devices and produces multi-layer crowns and bridges from the highest quality materials, natural appearance and color.

The CAD / CAM system consists of two separate interconnected computer systems:

  • A scanner, which reads a tooth model and displays it as a 3D model that can be further processed by a computer.
  • Milling machines, a robot that makes the replacements themselves by grinding discs from the desired material.

Our CAD / CAM system includes:

  • 3shape D900L scanner – the highest quality scanner of the new generation (4 high-resolution cameras, color scanning, higher scanning speed, Blue LED technology, the ability to scan larger models, etc.).
  • Wieland Zenotec select – a milling machine that has the ability to dry and wet milling of various materials. The high precision of making dental prostheses on this milling machine is enabled by the system of simultaneous “5-axis milling”. At the same time the built-in gearbox contains 8 discs (consisting of any material for making replacements) greatly speeds up the whole process.
  • Ivoclar Sintramat S1 – furnace for sintering zircon and e.max ZirCAD material (sintering – coarsening of fine-grained material by heating to surface melting temperature).

The process of making dental prostheses on a CAD / CAM system includes: scanning the patient’s model or impression, 3D virtual design of the prosthetic work, transferring the file to the milling machine and the milling process itself. In the case of zircon, the manufacturing process may include sintering.
